Heaters from the Latvian manufacturer Autoterm have established themselves in expedition vehicles, boats and yachts. They are robust, reliable, durable and efficient. Originally known under the name Planar, they now carry a new name – but remain the same proven product.
Suitable for large vehicles
The Air 9D far exceeds the heating requirements of typical camper vans. For panel vans or well-insulated expedition vehicles, the smaller Air 2D or Air 4D models are usually the better choice.
Originally developed for commercial trucks, the Autoterm Air 9D is used in travel applications to heat poorly insulated vehicles such as coaches or double-decker buses (large window areas), as well as boats up to around 15 m in length.
The Air 9D is adjustable from 3.2 kW to 8 kW and can move up to 290 m³ of air per hour.
Power supply
The Autoterm Air 9D is designed for connection to a 12 V or 24 V on-board electrical system. Please select the appropriate version for your vehicle.
Fuel consumption
Diesel consumption is approx. 0.42 l/h at minimum output and up to 1 l/h at maximum output.
Power consumption
At minimum output, the Autoterm Air 9D consumes approx. 12 W, and up to 180 W at maximum output.
Control and control panels
A control panel is included. You can currently choose between the following options:
Comfort Control
Multi-function rotary controller with display, timer function, voltage display and thermostat mode. Also includes burn-off reminder and battery protection.
Touch Control
Modern touch control panel with clear menu navigation. Ideal if you value intuitive operation and like to keep an eye on system data.
Mini Control
The Mini Control is a simple control panel for adjusting heater output levels. Using temperature mode requires an optional external temperature sensor.
Push Control (optional)
Since 2025, two control panels can be operated simultaneously on one heater – for example, one in the living area and one in the driver’s cab or sleeping area.
The Push Control is a compact, robust button for quick daily operation (on/off and power levels). It can be combined with the Comfort Control or used on its own for minimal control requirements.

Hot air ducting
The Air 9D uses 100 mm intake and outlet connections. Reduction to 90 mm is possible and permitted (adapter required).
