Lighting
The right lighting makes everyday life in your camper van or motorhome more comfortable, whether you’re reading in bed, preparing food or finding your way around the interior. Here you’ll find LED lights for different installation locations. Choose according to operating voltage, light distribution and mounting type to find lighting that suits your conversion.
Which lighting suits each area?
Start by considering the area you want to illuminate. Reading calls for focused, directional light, while a kitchen worktop benefits from even illumination across the surface. Several independently switched lights let you illuminate only the area you’re using.
Reading light, recessed light or surface-mounted light?
- Reading lights: Ideal for focused light beside a bed or seat. An adjustable arm helps you direct the light onto a book or work surface.
- Recessed lights: Fit neatly into ceiling or furniture panels. Check the required cut-out and mounting depth behind the panel.
- Surface-mounted lights: Mount onto the panel surface and are useful where space behind it is limited. Allow for their height above the surface and the cable entry.
12 V or 24 V: Choose the right version
The light must be suitable for the voltage at its connection point. Some models support a wider voltage range, while others are available as separate 12 V or 24 V versions. Check the specific variant and its permitted operating voltage range.
A model with an integrated switch can be operated directly at the light. If you want to control several lights centrally, plan for a suitable switch and the necessary wiring. You’ll find matching components in our switch range. Dimming is only possible when the light and dimmer are explicitly compatible.
Brightness and light colour: comfortable and practical
Wattage describes power consumption, not brightness directly. Where specified, light output in lumens helps you compare models. How bright a surface appears also depends on distance and light distribution. Position the light to avoid direct glare and prevent your body from casting a shadow over the work surface.
Warm white light creates a cosy atmosphere, while neutral white is well suited to task lighting. Check each model’s light colour, particularly when combining several lights in the same area. For damp or exposed locations, the ingress protection rating must also suit the conditions.
A quick check before buying
- Purpose: Do you need focused reading light or wider illumination?
- Installation: Are the dimensions, mounting depth and cable entry suitable?
- Power supply: Is the selected version compatible with your vehicle’s electrical system?
- Controls: Do you want to switch the light on and off directly or use a separate switch?
- Light and location: Do the brightness, light colour and ingress protection rating suit the intended use?
