Filling Water
Filling Water
Top up your fresh water with the right connections at your vehicle and the water source. Here you’ll find water filler inlets, filling hoses, tank fittings and adapters for your camper van or motorhome. When choosing components, check the installation dimensions, matching hose diameters and suitability for your intended use.
What do you need to fill your fresh water tank?
During your conversion, you’ll need to plan the connection from the filler inlet to the tank. On the road, you’ll also need a suitable connection to the tap at each filling point. Consider both together so you can easily replenish your water supply wherever your travels take you.
Filler inlet and tank connection
Choose your filler inlet according to the space available on and behind the vehicle wall. Alongside the required cut-out, check the installation depth and the direction of the hose connection. A short or angled inlet can help where space is limited. Also consider whether you want a lockable filler inlet.
Make sure the filling hose, tank fitting and hose clamps are compatible. Compare connection sizes and specifically check that the hose is suitable for drinking water if you’re filling your drinking water tank. Remember to include tank venting in your plans so displaced air can escape during filling.
Suitable adapters for water sources on the road
Not every tap has the same connection. A universal tap adapter can help you attach a hose to a tap without a suitable threaded connection. Choose the version that matches the outside diameter and shape of the tap spout – “universal” does not mean every adapter fits every tap.
If you use an Alb Filter when filling your tank, make sure the couplings between the tap, hose and filter are compatible too. A filling connection set makes it easier to put these connections together; check what’s included and which coupling system it uses before buying.
Keep filling equipment clean and monitor your tank level
Use a clean hose suitable for drinking water and keep hose ends and connectors away from dirty surfaces. A suitable tank sensor paired with a compatible display can help you keep track of your water supply. Choose the sensor according to your tank height and existing monitoring equipment.
