Autoterm Flow 5D (Binar 5s) Diesel water heater 5kW incl. installation kit

This heater is a cost-effective alternative to the Eberspächer D5W(Z) or Hydronic 5, as well as the ThermoTop models from Webasto. The scope of delivery already includes 99% of everything required for basic(*) installation.

Auxiliary heater operation

The heater can also be used as an auxiliary heater thanks to the programmable temperature thresholds and automatic mode. During engine operation, the coolant temperature is automatically maintained if it falls below a defined value. This value can be set between 75 and 95°C (default: 85°C). Whether the electric pump runs in auxiliary heater mode can of course also be programmed.

The so-called standby mode allows the water to continue circulating via the electric water pump while the heater switches off the burner once a temperature threshold between 20 and 95°C is exceeded. If water circulation in the system can be ensured by other means, the pump operation in standby mode can also be deactivated.

The temperature at which the switching output (currently still with an optional relay kit!) activates the vehicle fan (vehicle’s built-in ventilation/heating/air conditioning system) can also be programmed. The switching thresholds range from 30 to 60°C, with a default setting of 40°C. (*)Attention: The control of vehicle fans differs for each manufacturer and, with increasing complexity of modern vehicles, may require a considerable amount of individual effort. We can only provide limited support here, as it is not possible for us to fully cover the technical specifics of all vehicle manufacturers.

With a convenient mobile app, the heater can be remotely controlled via the optional GSM modem. Start parameters such as time and heating duration can be defined, and the heater status can be easily checked.

For professionals: This heater features an additional switching input on the wiring harness, allowing connection of a custom remote control or a second control unit. Only two wires need to be connected via a switch or relay. This can be done permanently, in which case the heater starts and runs until the connection is interrupted again, or via a pulse. A pulse of 0.5–3 seconds can be used to switch it on, and the next pulse will switch it off again. The advantage of the second option is the ability to control the heater using different control elements – for example, a custom-built remote or a push button. The switching input is also subject to the original heater software’s 120-minute runtime limit.

Info: The angled water outlets can be rotated by 180°. If required, straight outlets can also be ordered instead of the angled water connections – depending on the installation situation.

All Autoterm heaters have E-mark certification (e2) and can therefore be installed without registration.

Control and user interfaces

A control panel is included with the heater (please select your preferred version). You can choose between the following options:

Comfort Control

Control unit with multifunction rotary knob and display: easy operation, timer function, voltage display and thermostat mode – a proven all-rounder with additional burn-off reminder and voltage monitoring that can actively switch off the heater to protect the battery.

Touch Control

Modern touch control panel with clear menu structure. Ideal if you prefer a particularly comfortable and intuitive user experience and want to keep an eye on all values.

Tip: optionally available Push Control

Since 2025, two control units can be operated simultaneously on one heater – for example one in the living area and one in the driver’s cab or sleeping area.

The Push Control is a compact, robust button for quick everyday operation (on/off and power levels). It can be combined with the Comfort Control or used on its own for minimal control requirements.
