Battery Monitor with Smart Shunt 500A
If you want to truly understand your on-board electrical system, a simple voltage display is not enough. The Renogy battery monitor measures the actual current flow via a shunt and calculates the state of charge of your battery – significantly more accurate than basic voltage readings.
Precise battery monitoring instead of guesswork
All relevant values are continuously recorded:
- Voltage
- Current (charging/discharging)
- Consumed energy
- Remaining capacity
- State of charge (SOC in %)
This gives you a realistic picture of how much energy is actually available to you.
Shunt-based measurement for real accuracy
The included 500A shunt is installed in the negative line and measures the entire current flow of your battery. This allows the system to achieve a high measurement accuracy of approximately ±1% for voltage, current and capacity.
This is essential if you want to properly plan or reliably operate your system.
Suitable for almost all battery systems
The battery monitor is highly versatile and supports:
- LiFePO4 (lithium)
- Lithium-ion
- AGM, gel and lead-acid
- Nickel-metal hydride
It operates with battery systems from 10 V to 120 V and measures currents up to 500 A.
This makes it suitable for both standard 12 V setups and larger systems.
Alarm and protection functions
You can define individual thresholds. In case of overvoltage, undervoltage or critical capacity, the device provides a visual alarm – helping you reliably protect your battery from deep discharge.
Data storage and low power consumption
All important data is retained even when the system is powered off.
The power consumption is very low:
Operating: approx. 10–15 mA
Standby: approx. 1–2 mA
This allows you to keep the monitor permanently connected without noticeably affecting your system.
Installation in the vehicle
Installation is straightforward and typical for shunt-based systems:
- Install the shunt in the negative line
- Mount the display unit inside the vehicle
- Connect using the supplied cable
The long connection cable allows flexible placement of the display in your camper.
