Motorhome Solar Panel ULTRAblack tiger
With ULTRAblack tiger solar modules, you opt for uncompromising performance, cutting-edge cell technology, and a sophisticated design.
Highest efficiency with Topcon n-type solar cells
Rely on maximum energy yield: Our ULTRAblack tiger solar modules are equipped with state-of-the-art Topcon n-type solar cells, which, with an impressive cell efficiency of 24.8%, are among the most powerful modules on the market.
This technology ensures that you can generate enough power even when space is limited on the roof of your camper, van, or expedition vehicle. Gain the optimum amount of solar power.
Higher yield in partial shade thanks to clever wiring and bypass diodes
On tour, partial shading of the solar panels by trees or buildings is often unavoidable. Our modules therefore utilize clever wiring and bypass diodes to significantly minimize power losses when individual areas are shaded. This ensures you're fully supplied even in difficult conditions.
Robust technology for use in motorhomes and campers
The modules are designed for use under all travel conditions: Operating temperatures from -40 to +85°C and limited dimensions for reduced susceptibility to vibration while driving ensure that you're supplied with self-sufficient solar power anywhere, even after bumpy roads.
Stylish but unobtrusive - Uncompromising black design
The all-black design of these solar modules ensures that the module blends seamlessly and elegantly into the overall look of your vehicle.
Connecting the solar panel to the motorhome
The connection is made on the rear using two pre-assembled, 90 cm long cables with MC4 connectors.
For a waterproof roof penetration, we recommend either the Multi cable entry system or single (6-10 mm) and double horizontal cable entry systems (5-6 mm) from Scanstrut.
More information on setting up your solar system
To connect the solar panel to the battery, you always need a solar charge controller. You will need solar cable of the appropriate length, an MC4 connector, and an MC4 socket (see our category Solar Installation Materials)
We recommend the SmartSolar solar controller from Victron Energy (please select the appropriate size). If you want to connect multiple panels together, you will need a larger controller. You can find out which controller you need as follows:
The values of an MPPT 75/15, for example, mean a maximum open-circuit voltage of 75V for the panel (Voc) and a maximum rated charging current of 15A. The Voc value is listed in the datasheet for each panel; the rated charging current must be calculated.
Calculation example:
Our Black Tiger 100 solar module has a Voc of 37.20V. This is less than 75V, so a solar controller with an open circuit voltage of 75V is sufficient.
To calculate the rated charging current, divide the rated power by 12.8V: 100Wp divided by 12.8V equals 7.81A. This is less than 10, and therefore the MPPT 75/10 solar controller is suitable for our Black Tiger 100.
A detailed explanation of how to calculate the charge controller can be found here in our online magazine, as well as other articles on the topic of solar systems in motorhomes.
