Victron Cerbo GX MK3

The Victron Cerbo GX MK3 is the communication and control centre for your Victron energy system. It brings together data from compatible inverters, chargers, solar charge controllers, battery monitors and sensors. This lets you keep track of state of charge, energy flows and operating status – directly on an optional GX Touch display, via your local network or remotely through the Victron Remote Management portal (VRM).

The new 64-bit processing platform provides additional processing headroom for larger systems and demanding applications. This makes the MK3 particularly useful if you want to connect numerous devices or implement custom automation.

Functionality & System Integration

The Cerbo GX MK3 brings readings and status information from your connected devices together in a single interface. With suitable sensors, you can also monitor temperatures and tank levels. The monitoring and control functions available depend on the connected devices and your system configuration.

You can operate the system using a separately available GX Touch 50 or GX Touch 70, or via Remote Console in a browser on your smartphone, tablet or computer. For local access, you can use your local network or the built-in WiFi access point. Remote access through VRM requires an internet connection for the Cerbo GX, for example via WiFi or Ethernet.

What’s New with the MK3?

The main upgrade over the Cerbo GX MK2 is the 64-bit processing platform. It provides more headroom for numerous connected devices, complex Node-RED flows and Signal K applications. The MK3 also supports a total of up to 25 VE.Direct devices, compared with 15 on the MK2. Three physical VE.Direct ports are still provided; additional devices connect via optional VE.Direct to USB adapters.

The connection options, enclosure and core GX functions remain largely unchanged. The two VE.Can interfaces with one galvanically isolated bus, three fully functional USB ports and digital inputs with pulse counting were already available on the MK2. Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth are also carried over from the previous model.

Custom Automation

The optional Venus OS Large firmware version adds Node-RED and a Signal K Server. Node-RED lets you create custom control flows, notifications and dashboards. Signal K is primarily used in marine applications to combine and process data from different systems. These software features are already available on earlier GX devices; the MK3 provides additional processing headroom to run them.
