Votronic Solar Charge Controller MPP 440 CI

The Votronic Solar Charge Controller MPP 440 CI is ideal for solar modules with a maximum output of 440Wp, a module current of up to 26A, and a module voltage of up to 60V.

It features two charging outputs: The main charging output supplies lead-acid, gel, AGM, as well as modern lithium LiFePO4 batteries. The second output is used for trickle charging and maintaining the starter battery.

Votronic MPP solar controllers are specifically designed for motorhomes, caravans, and boats, acting as the link between solar module(s) and battery systems.


Votronic MPP 440 CI - Features and Benefits

Increased charging efficiency
Advanced microprocessor technology increases charging current by approx. 10% to 30% compared to conventional controllers (efficiency > 95%), especially beneficial in low temperatures, diffuse light, and with higher-voltage solar modules.

Flexible charging
Suitable for lead-acid, gel, AGM, and LiFePO4 batteries, as well as for simultaneous operation with connected loads.

Safe charging voltage
The microprocessor-controlled IU1oU2 charging characteristic ensures controlled and battery-friendly charging without overcharging.

Dual charging outputs
Main output for the leisure battery and a separate output for trickle charging and maintaining the starter battery with up to 1.5 A.

Automatic protection functions
Protection against overload, overheating, short circuit, reverse polarity, and battery back discharge.

Parallel and buffer operation
Charging parameters are maintained even when loads are simultaneously connected to the battery.

Overcharge protection
The controller monitors the battery, automatically reduces charging current when fully charged, and instantly recharges when power is drawn.

Multi-stage charging profile for optimal charging of lead and LiFePO4 batteries.

Charging cable compensation
Automatic compensation of voltage losses in the charging cables.

On-board network filter
Suitable for parallel operation with other charging sources such as mains chargers, alternators, as well as wind and engine generators.

For integration into CI bus-capable vehicle systems.

Measurement output for EBL
Allows use of an integrated solar current display in the electrical control unit.

Battery temperature sensor connection
With temperature compensation for lead batteries and protection for LiFePO4 batteries. A temperature sensor is required for LiFePO4 operation.

Votronic MPP 440 CI Charging Programs:

  • Lead batteries: Gel, AGM and flooded – each with an optimised charging profile for reliable charging and long service life.
  • LiFePO4: Multiple charging profiles with different end-of-charge voltages (13.9V – 14.6V) for optimal compatibility with various lithium batteries and BMS systems.
  • LiFePO4 storage/winter mode: Special charging profile at approx. 13.2V for gentle storage at a reduced state of charge (approx. 50–80%).
