Ducato installation kit for Autoterm Air 2D under the passenger seat
This complete kit contains the right components for installing an Autoterm Air 2D neatly under the passenger seat of a Fiat Ducato or an equivalent vehicle. Vehicles from the Ducato family provide a comparatively generous amount of space under the passenger seat. This allows the heater to be installed inside the vehicle without taking up valuable room in cupboards, seating units or the rear storage area.
At the same time, all connection routes remain short: the warm air outlet is positioned directly in the seat base, the vehicle’s fuel tank is easy to access and the exhaust, combustion air intake and fuel line can all be routed through the vehicle floor over a short distance.
The kit is generally suitable for:
- Fiat Ducato,
- Citroën Jumper,
- Peugeot Boxer and
- Opel Movano from model year 2021 onwards.
The heater
At the heart of the kit is the Autoterm Air 2D with 2 kW heating output. This compact diesel air heater is ideal for vans and campers and, thanks to its small dimensions, fits particularly well beneath the passenger seat base.

Altitude kit
The heater is equipped with an altitude kit. This automatically adjusts the fuel supply to account for changes in air pressure at higher elevations.
However, this does not mean that deposits cannot build up when the heater is operated continuously at a low output. You should therefore run the heater at full power for around one hour at least once every one to two weeks. This allows the combustion chamber to heat up properly and burn off any deposits.

Installation under the passenger seat
The Autoterm Air 2D is installed inside the passenger seat base. This keeps the heater protected inside the vehicle and means it does not take up any additional living or storage space.
A rectangular cut-out is made in the vehicle floor beneath the seat base. The mounting flange included in the kit is fitted into this opening and provides a clean passage for the fuel connection, combustion air intake and exhaust system.
For the installation, the factory-fitted heat shield beneath the seat base must first be temporarily removed. A suitable opening for the exhaust pipe is later made in this heat shield.
Mounting flange
The kit includes a stainless steel mounting flange for floors up to 48 mm thick.
Instead of having to drill several individual holes through the vehicle floor for the heater connections, the flange only requires one rectangular cut-out. This allows the heater and all connections to sit cleanly aligned and free from tension.
The flange also provides thermal isolation between the heater and the vehicle floor. The area around the cut-out is carefully sealed from below using a suitable sealing compound.
As the floor insulation beneath the passenger seat base is often relatively thick, an additional spacer may be required for the flange, depending on the vehicle. This can be made from suitable wooden strips or aluminium profiles, for example.
Easy fuel pick-up
A major advantage of this kit is the particularly straightforward fuel connection. The Easy fuel pick-up included in the kit can be installed via the easily accessible fuel sender unit between the driver and passenger seats, without removing the entire sender unit or drilling into the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The existing fuel tank breather connection is replaced by the fuel pick-up. The pre-bent pick-up pipe is inserted into the existing opening and then connected to the heater’s fuel line.
This saves time and reduces the risk of common issues such as leaks or diesel smells caused by unnecessary work on the vehicle’s fuel tank.
The fuel line can be routed along the vehicle’s original fuel lines beneath the floor. The tank retaining straps provide suitable protected areas for mounting the fuel pump. The installation specifications in the Autoterm Air 2D manual must be observed.
Warm air ducting
Because the heater is installed directly beneath the passenger seat, only a very short warm air duct is required. The kit already includes:
- 0.5 m of 60 mm warm air ducting,
- one adjustable 60 mm air outlet,
- the matching outlet connector and
- the required fastening clamps.
The air outlet is installed in the seat base or its trim panel. Depending on the design of the seat base, you may need to create a suitable opening or build a small mounting frame for the outlet.
The short length of warm air duct connects the heater outlet directly to the air vent. Make sure the duct is not crushed and is routed with as few tight bends as possible. Unrestricted airflow is essential to prevent heat build-up and the heater shutting down for safety reasons.
Control and operating panel
Comfort Control
The proven Comfort Control is already included with this Ducato kit. The control panel features a multifunction rotary dial and a clear display.
Its functions include timers, thermostat mode, voltage display, a burn-off reminder and voltage monitoring, which can shut the heater down safely if the battery voltage becomes too low.
3 m extension cable included
The standard control panel cable is approximately 1.8 m long. As the heater is installed beneath the passenger seat and the control panel is often positioned further back in the living area, this kit also includes a 3 m extension cable.
This allows you to install the Comfort Control in a convenient and easily accessible position without having to order an additional extension cable.
Exhaust system and combustion air intake
The combustion air intake, exhaust pipe and fuel line are connected to the underside of the heater. The combustion air intake can be positioned in a protected location above the factory-fitted heat shield.
A suitable opening is made in the heat shield for the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe and its heat protection sleeve are routed through this opening. The exhaust silencer can then be secured to the heat shield in a protected position, while the end section of the exhaust system can be routed alongside the vehicle’s original exhaust.

- corrosion protection for the cut edges in the vehicle floor and
- material for a mounting frame for the warm air outlet, if required.
