Renogy PMS1260 Power Distribution Box
Connect your loads, switch them individually and keep track of their current draw: the Renogy PMS1260 Power Distribution Box combines eight DC circuits with centralised control and monitoring. The Smart Distribution Box is designed for 12 V and 24 V battery systems and distributes up to 60 A in total.
Six outputs rated at up to 10 A each and two outputs rated at up to 30 A each accommodate loads with different power requirements. Built-in Bluetooth, two tank level sensor ports and integration with the Renogy ONE system complement its power distribution functions. Battery charging remains the job of separate chargers.
Key benefits
- 8 individually switchable DC circuits with up to 60 A in total
- 6 × 10 A and 2 × 30 A for loads with different current requirements
- Control directly on the unit or via the Renogy app using built-in Bluetooth
- Quick-connect terminals for battery and loads; blade fuses pre-installed
- 2 tank level sensor ports and a remote control port for compatible Renogy inverters
- CAN and RS485; up to 4 PMS1260 units can be networked in one system
8 circuits, 60 A total current
Channels CH1 to CH6 supply loads drawing up to 10 A each. CH7 and CH8 are available for higher current requirements of up to 30 A each. Each load's positive and negative wires connect to their corresponding channel. This keeps the circuit wiring easy to identify.
Total load matters too: The combined current draw of all loads operating simultaneously must not exceed 60 A. The maximum currents of the individual channels cannot be added together to obtain a higher permissible total current.
Control via the app or on the unit
Each output has its own switch directly on the box. An integrated LED indicates when the circuit is switched on. This lets you switch loads directly at the distribution box without a smartphone or an additional display.
Built-in Bluetooth allows the PMS1260 to connect directly to the Renogy app. You can view operating data, adjust settings and switch loads on or off. Alternatively, these functions are available through Renogy ONE Core or Renogy ONE Vision. The app also lets you create automation scenes.
An optional Renogy RMS-P2 wired remote control can be connected to switch the box on and off. It switches off the DC outputs and the power supply to the RBUS ports. A display powered through these ports therefore needs a separate power supply if it is to remain switched on.
Centralised tank level monitoring
TANK 1 and TANK 2 accept two resistive two-wire level sensors, for example for fresh and grey water. The supported resistance ranges are 0–190 Ω and 240–33 Ω. The default setting is 0–190 Ω; it can be changed through Renogy ONE Vision or the app.
You can check the tank levels through the Renogy app, Renogy ONE Core or Renogy ONE Vision. ONE Vision also lets you configure tank names and level alarms, among other settings. Suitable tank level sensors are required separately.
Networking and inverter control
Two RBUS ports enable CAN or RS485 communication with compatible Renogy components. Both ports can also supply power to suitable devices such as Renogy ONE Core, Renogy ONE Vision or the Renogy Control Panel. In larger installations, up to four PMS1260 units can be networked via RBUS, with each box assigned its own CAN address.
An additional RJ12 remote control port allows a compatible Renogy inverter to be switched on and off. It is used for control, not to supply power to the inverter. A suitable connecting cable is required separately.
Protection and installation
The battery supply cable and loads connect via lever-operated quick-connect terminals. Blade fuses are pre-installed and accessible through the cover. CH1 to CH6 accept fuses rated at up to 10 A, while CH7 and CH8 accept fuses rated at up to 30 A.
The box measures the current drawn by the connected loads and includes overload and short-circuit protection as well as over-temperature shutdown. Automatic low-voltage shutdown, followed by reconnection when the battery voltage rises, complements load control. Over-temperature shutdown takes both the internal temperature and the current load into account.
The PMS1260 mounts on a flat surface in a dry, well-ventilated indoor location, protected from direct sunlight. Measuring 221 × 118 × 42.8 mm, the distribution box remains compact. Sufficient clearance must be left for connecting cables, ventilation and fuse replacement.
PMS1260 or PMS1280?
The PMS1260 is the more compact choice for up to eight circuits and two resistive tank level sensors. Its two 30 A outputs are particularly useful. The PMS1280, by contrast, provides twelve circuits, up to 80 A in total, four tank level sensor ports, two temperature inputs and additional digital inputs and outputs.
A higher total current capacity does not mean more current per connection: the highest-rated load channels on the PMS1280 are limited to 20 A each, compared with 30 A each on the PMS1260. Your choice therefore depends not only on the number of loads, but also on their individual current draw.
