Description

Retrofitting a parking heater on VW T5 / T6

With this underfloor installation kit for an Autoterm Air 2D (Planar 2D) parking heater, the space on your T5 / T6 which is originally provided ex work is used - underfloor on the passenger side between the step and the B-pillar.

Included is

  • the heater itself,
  • our installation flange for underfloor installation at the corresponding position in the VW T5 / T6,
  • all necessary parts to implement the air intake in the step
  • adapter to use the original Volkswagen hot air ducts for the B-pillar on the hot air side.

All in all, you get an almost original installation in the cleanest possible way.

The air-conducting parts for the B-pillar are NOT included and must be ordered from a Volkswagen dealer. The costs for this should be less than 150 EUR (NO GUARANTEE for this information, as we cannot always keep an eye on VW prices!). You will automatically receive a list with the required part numbers by email after purchase.

Autoterm parking heaters

The diesel parking heaters from Autoterm, which became known under the name Planar 2D, are now called Air 2D.

They are the robust, proven heaters for the diy camperconversion - without loss of guarantee and they have an E-mark, which means that they are safe to use and do not need to be registered by the TÜV.

The simple technology can even be repaired by yourself if it’s necessary.

Maintenance

With an Autoterm heater, there is only one maintenance measure and that is also super simple: Don't just let it run on the lowest level! If you operate the heating mainly in the low range, let it run for half an hour at the highest level every 1 - 2 weeks in order to burn away any soot deposits that are beginning to build up. Finished!

Operation at high altitudes

Operating diesel engines at high altitudes is a problem. But not for the diesel heaters in our installation kits. They are equipped with an high altitude kit that automatically adapts the fuel injection to the changed air pressure conditions.

We ourselves developed the altitude kit with the manufacturer and tested it under real conditions (on the Pitztal Glacier). However, our customers have now broken our altitude record and operated the heating at over 5000 meters without any problems.

Here too, however, the following applies: When returning to a normal level above zero, the heater must be given the opportunity to burn on high temperature!

Control Panel

When ordering, you can choose between different control panels. You are here in the variant equiped with Comfort Control Panel.

Remote control

An own remote control can be used to control the heating. The wiring harness has an extra switching input that can be used for this.

The control can take place permanently by connecting two cables of the switching input by a switch or relay, then the heating runs until the connection is disconnected again. But you can also use a pulse of 0.5 to 3 s length. In this way, several control elements can be used - for example, switch on and regulate from the seat, later switch off in bed via remote control without having to get up.
