Build your own camper van furniture with STECK + WEG
Whether you’re building a kitchen unit, cupboard or storage around a wheel arch, STECK + WEG lets you create the framework using aluminium profiles cut to length and matching connectors. You then add panels, fronts and doors as needed. This gives you the freedom to design your own interior without complicated woodworking joints. To cut the profiles and attach the panels, you’ll need suitable tools, particularly a saw and a drill or cordless drill driver.
Which profiles and connectors do you need?
Start with a sketch and the dimensions of your planned furniture. This will help you work out the profile lengths and connection points you need. Corner, T-piece and multi-way connectors join the profiles at corners and junctions, while adjustable connectors accommodate other angles. When choosing your profiles, consider whether you need plain profiles or versions with one or two flanges for attaching your panels.
Choose your panels and fittings
You choose and source the furniture panels separately. Depending on the appearance, weight and durability you’re looking for, options include plywood, solid wood or Alu-Dibond aluminium composite panels. The panel thickness must suit the orientation of the profile flanges. Keep in mind that the weight of your finished furniture also depends on the panels and fittings you use.
STECK + WEG is a system of individual components, rather than a vehicle-specific complete kit. Alongside the profiles and connectors, plan for the panels, fixings and any hinges or catches you’ll need. Consider how you’ll secure the furniture in your vehicle from the outset.
